About Us
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is the national body for prostate cancer in Australia. The PCFA plays a vital role in the fight against prostate cancer and devotes all of its resources towards reducing the impact of prostate cancer on the community. The goal of the PCFA is to reduce the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners, their families and the community; to represent the interest of all Australian men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The PCFA works to raise awareness and attract widespread financial support for the work of the foundation to: fund research into the causes, detection, diagnosis and improved treatment of prostate cancer; and to raise community awareness of the incidence of prostate cancer, thereby encouraging earlier detection and more effective treatment of the disease.
For more information contact the PCFA on http://www.prostate.org.au.
The above information was taken from the PCFA web site.
What to do: Most people will be affected by prostate cancer. Maybe not by contracting the disease themselves, but by knowing someone who has? What do you do? Well if you ride a motorcycle, invite your friends and mates to go for a ride and raise money to help fight the disease.
That is what the Rumble Riders is about. It is a ride aimed at enticing motorcyclist to leave from all over Australia and meet up at towns along the way to their final destination. On the way our aim is to raise money and awareness for the
Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Why would anyone do it: If you are a “died in the wool motorcyclist” then you will
know why you would want to do it. You feel the same as everyone else. You love to
ride and enjoy life and what else do you need to encourage you to go on the ride
of your life. Along the way you will meet other riders who will become your life
long friends. Whether they are fellow riders or some one in a small town who you
bring friend ship too. That's what riding a bike does-
How do we do it: When participants join the ride they pay their entry fee, a portion of this is donated to the PCFA, the rest is for your ride shirt, stubby holder, patch and keyring. This entry fee will give you the ride of your life and a life time of memories.
Each participant needs to fill out a registration form and pay the nomination fee (this is per person)
There will be times of socialising and camaraderie and also remembering those who have suffered this depilating disease. Before the ride begins entrants will be encouraged to get sponsorship from businesses and friends to raise money for the cause. Those of us who are fit and healthy owe it to our brothers who are suffering. Remember it could be any one of us who stumbles into this horrible disease.
Accommodation On the way:
We will search accommodation details in every town but it is up to each participant to book their own accommodation. It doesn't matter what your flavour is, whether it's camping or living it up in the best accommodation it will be up to you to book ahead. Many of the towns we stop in will have various styles of accommodation.
On the ride: It will be the responsibility of participants to be accountable for their own safety. There will be speed limits to adhere to and various road conditions to look out for. The area we will be traveling through means that there will be wild animals and differing traffic using those roads. It will be the responsibility of riders to make sure they have sufficient insurance coverage and experience to complete the route with safety. Prior to departing all participants will be given a Rumble pack which includes ride shirt, stubby cooler, patch ,keyring, trip itinerary and contact numbers for the support vehicle and other emergency contact numbers.
Sponsors: Sponsorship is a vital part to any charity ride, please check the links here of these wonderful businesses.
The Finale: To ride safe and enjoy life: The first guarantees the second.
